DATV Update, December 17th 2024

So, here's an update on my DATV project. This is a pure software solution for DATV (DVB-S2) which can be used with Pluto, Lime (later) and other SDRs. No extra hardware such as the BATC MiniTiouner is needed.

Summary

Good progress is being made:

  • CPU load is low, see Task Manager screenshot below, CPU is i5-13600F at only 2.7%. Low CPU is important for this type of application it shows good design and implementation
  • Can view QO-100 transmissions:
  • BATC Thursday evening net hosted by Martin, G4FKK
  • Sunday afternoon WWW net hosted by Gary ZS6YI
  • Transmit code is all in place, tested via a loopback option where the transmit IQ data is fed back into the receive chain.
  • Currently only Normal frames (64,800 bits) are supported. Short frames (16,200 bits) will be supported.
  • All FEC rates work, the BCH code is been highly optimised.

Next step is some live transmissions before the end of December 2024!

Sounds Like... And before I start, may I apologise for the delay in finding the cause of the noise.
